School Organisation
Our school has seven classes catering for a full range of ability across the National Curriculum within Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. As a one form entry school, we have one class per year group.

- Year 2 - Emma Raducanu Class
- Year 3 - Beth England Class
- Year 4 - Ellie Simmonds Class
- Year 5 - Beth Tweddle Class
- Year 6 - Chris Froome Class
Class teachers are responsible for the children’s welfare and delivery of the curriculum. Work is planned in close liaison, communication and support from our teaching assistant team. During planning, teaching staff draw on different experiences, knowledge and expertise to ensure work is relevant and well matched to meet the needs of the children.
In this way, we are able to utilise the strengths of the staff team and enhance the quality of learning and teaching here at Downsview.

Additional Educational Needs
All children are valued, respected and welcomed to the school whatever their additional educational need. We will support their learning and ensure they are fully included in all school activities, making full use of externally provided facilities where appropriate.
Special Educational Needs
The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice 2001 recognises that there are four broad areas:-
- Communication and interaction (language and autism spectrum disorder)
- Cognition and learning (general learning and specific learning difficulties)
- Physical and sensory
- Behavioural, emotional and social
Our set procedure for identifying and assessing the special needs of individual children involves pupils, parents, teaching staff and external agencies.
We are able to provide an environment which enables access for all pupils regardless of their need. Our accessibility plan enables optimum participation in the school community for pupils, and prospective pupils, with a disability.
More able and talented pupils (MAT)
Our school will have, at any time, a number of highly attaining pupils.
We recognise academic and practical performance as well as those who show outstanding artistic, musical and creative talent, physical skills, leadership qualities and the ability to process ideas and information. We strive to ensure that the abilities of all our pupils are catered for and met. We encourage all pupils to be ‘challenged’ and ‘stretched’ – regardless of their ability.
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
Together with the support of external services, we build on the children’s cultural and linguistic experiences to develop their understanding and use of English. We welcome parents and carers into school and embrace opportunities that will enrich our school community.
