Mrs Hicks, Mrs Wicks and Ms Osborn welcome you back to Cherry Class for Term 4.

Academic Year 2018-19

Welcome back, we cannot believe that we are half way through the year.

Our emphasis for the next three terms will be to encourage the children to become more independent. This will mean that the children will be taking more responsibility for themselves and their learning as well as responsibility for their possessions and friendships.

PE will be every Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child’s PE kit is available for both days.

We will be completing DEAR (drop everything and read), every day and would be grateful if home reading books and reading records could be sent in with the children every day.

Term 4.

As SATS will soon be upon us we will be working very hard to reach our potential, as well as ensuring we have fun.

Our topic this term is ‘Turrets and Tiaras’ and we will focus on different versions of the fairy-tale Rapunzel.

Maths subjects this term will involve working with statistics and shape and fractions.

Science will cover plants and we will be opening our garden centre, in our outside area. We will be planting bulbs and seeds and watching them grow, as well as trying to attract insects and wildlife.

DT will comprise of winding mechanisms and we will be making drawbridges to attach to our castles.

Comparing Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria’s reigns will enable us to create fact files and we will also be learning the National Anthem.

Best wishes,

Mrs Hicks, Mrs Wicks & Ms Osborn.
